How to Import Raw Materials Using Flexitanks

If you're looking to import raw liquid materials, there are several ways of doing so. You can use something like an ISO tank or drums, but these all come with their own drawbacks. If you want to important these materials in the most efficient way possible, then Flexitanks are the way to go. Many companies have already made the switch as they are so much easier to use overall. Here's how to use a flexitank reservoir, so you can see why you should use them too.

What Is A Flexitank?

Firstly, you'll need to know how a Flexitank differs from regular tanks. Unlike other options on the market, a Flexitank is actually a bag style tank, that can be filled through a nozzle in the top. You may also see them being referred to as Flexibags.

These tanks are made of multi layered polyethylene, with an extra layer of polypropylene for added protection. They can offer a payload of up to 24 tons, making them perfect for bulk liquid transport.

They offer a lot of benefits, and a lot of these are in how they streamline the loading and unloading process. Let's see how Flexitanks can benefit you in this regard.

Loading A Flexitank

Loading up a flexitank reservoir is a lot easier than using other options on the market. You'll firstly see it takes less people to do, as there's less work involved.

To get started, you'll need to prepare your shipping container. This involves checking for any sharp or rough surfaces, and covering them with tape if needed. Then you'll line the container with paper, ready for the tank itself.

Lay out the tank along the bottom of the corner, ensuring the corners of the bag reaches the corners of the container itself. Then, you're ready to start filling. Attach the hose you'll be pumping from to the nozzle of the Flexitank, and start pumping in the liquid. As you do this, ensure that the hose doesn't get trapped between the tank and the container wall. You will need to support the hose in order to fully fill the tank.

Once the tank is full, you're ready to ship it off. Detach the hose and close the nozzle on the tank. Close the door and attach all necessary labels, and it's ready to go.

Unloading A Flexitank

This process works in much the same way as loading up a flexitank reservoir. When you're ready to unload, open up the right hand door of the container, and open up the Flexitank nozzle. You can then attach the hose, and begin to pump the product out.

Again, ensure that the hose is being supported, so you can keep it from becoming trapped. As the bag is emptied, you can start to use squeegees or brooms to move liquid up from the bottom of the bag towards the nozzle. You can also roll up the bag from the bottom, to move all product forward.

Once the tank is empty, you just need to remove it from the container, as well as the lining paper and any labels you used. Once that's done, the job is complete.

The Benefits Of Flexitanks

As you've seen, using a Flexitank is much easier than other transport methods. This allows companies to be more efficient with their time, as they can load up tanks faster and get them on the road quicker. Using Flexibags, you can get much more product ready for import than you would normally.

As well as this, you've seen that you can use a lot less staff when filling that Flexibag. At most, you'll need two or three staff to load or unload it at any one time. If you're using drums, for example, that's going to need a lot more staff overall. They need to be filled individually, then loaded onto pallets and wrapped. Finally, they'll then need to be moved into the container via forklift. That's going to require a lot of staff to get done quickly.

When you use a Flexitank, all that work is removed in a single stroke. You don't need as many staff to handle it, so you can save a lot of cash on staffing costs.

Also, consider the environmental costs of using a Flexitank. They come ready to be used, with very little extra packaging. They can be recycled after use, along with the paper lining. That's much better for the environment than drums, which need to be wrapped with plastic wrap to keep them in place.

There's lots of other benefits to using Flexitanks too, which you should consider:

Lower storage costs as they take up less space.

FDA approved, so perfect for shipping any edible bulk liquids.

One use only items, so there's never a chance of cross contamination and product loss.

Can be used for a wide array of liquids.

Multi layer design protects against leaks and spills.

Flexibag will expand to use all the space in a container, making them more efficient.

When it comes to bulk liquid transportation, it's easy to see why so many are making the switch towards the Flexitank. They cost less to use, are better for the earth, and are safe to use with a large array of liquids. They're most likely right for your business, so why not look into using them today?
